Aww, that kinda sucks. It "may be the wrong place to go anyway"? Hmmm.
Yeah...I've only done it a few times, and when no one's looking. I don't know why it's easier...it just simply is!

Yeah... apparently going to the Moon and going to Mars are the "wrong" places to go...
Hahahahahahahahahahaha, I've reverted almost exclusively to going up the stairs using that method.

Well based on physics you have a different center of gravity and your muscles don't have to strain to hold yourself upright as you defy the force of gravity by stepping up. I do know that when I go up steep hills in a hike I usually go down on all fours.
Offline
Where are the "right" places then?
I've totally gone up stairs on all fours. We'd be at a hotel (my family and I) and we'd go up the stairs and I'd just suddenly kinda lope up like that. The only time my mom said anything was when I was younger and did it really fast and noisily ("You sound like a herd of elephants! People are trying to sleep!")

Well, now we know why. So ha, to those that think it's weird to go up & down stairs on all fours - physics says it's easier on us!
Offline
And there in lies the question.
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha, I love it! Besides the fact that it just feels more "natural", it's actually quite a bit easier and faster.
Offline
Well from my experience on hikes I quite agree it is faster, easier, and more natural. I'll have to try it on the next set of stairs I find.
Offline
As I will have to try it on the next hike I engage in. Though...this is Florida, so I won't be going up and down any hills.
Huh.
Maybe I'll quickly take a trip to like...the rockies or something.
Offline
I've done it while hiking on slickrock. It works!
Offline
Now if only my Jeep knew how to crawl up those mountains at a faster pace.
Offline
Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha, what are you talking about Totali? We've got lots of mountains down here!
Offline
"Hills"
Offline
Yes, I did indeed say hills.
But he's right. We have beautiful mountains here, but they're so incredibly beautiful that your eyes can't take them in, so they appear invisible in the sight of mere humans.
Offline
Hahahahahahahaha. From what I have seen of them further north they are very stunning and awe inspiring, "hills."
Offline
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! I don't know what you're talking about Vin, to me, anything higher than 1000 feet's a mountain to me.
Offline
Nah, it has to be at least 6,000 feet for it to be a mountain and event then that could be called a large hill. A real mountain is 10,000 feet or more.
Offline
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! So you say, so you say.
Here in Florida, a "mountain" is anything over 300 feet.
Some examples I can think of are Mt. Trashmore near Miami and Sugarloaf Mountain. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugarloaf_Mountain_(Florida)

What majesty! The largest mountains I've ever laid my eyes upon, even larger than the ones in Colorado!
Offline
Wow that is the highest point. The highest here is Kings Peak at 13,528 Ft.
Offline
Well, actually Britton Hill is the highest point and it is a much more impressive 345 feet thank you.
Offline
w00t! By Vin's definition my mountains here are real mountains! Yay! I'm actually kind of surprised because I didn't realize they were over 12, 000 feet <_< I thought they'd be smaller than that....

That is impressive... I don't think I could make it up something that ferociously tall
Offline
It's the Rockies and all it's "Up-lifting" geology.
Offline
HA. I see what you did there, Vinny my boy.
Up-lifting...hehe.
Offline
It just carries you right on up!
