Re: Am I a Werewolf/Therian?

That's a good thing, but no one can give you a worthwhile opinion over the Internet. and if they state a strong opinion, you need to be suspicious. there's a lot of people on the Internet that like to think of themselves as experts about therianthropy but they're just playing games with themselves and other folks. Just think, do you figure anyone could diagnoses a serious illness like schizophrenia over the Internet (being a psychologist, I'll supply the answer, no, they can't). Why would you think they could "diagnose" such a subtle life condition like therianthropy.

This is an answer you have to come up with on your own. Even if you went to a Howl, most Therians aren't willing to say, 'Yes, you are," or 'No, you aren't," because they know that the only answer you're going to be satisfied with is the one you find in yourself.

I wish you all the luck in the world but I hope the answer you get doesn't come from cyberspace.

Somehow, im not at all surprised to learn your a psychologist big_smile And thank you for the best wishes, and ill take your advice; i wont completelly base my being a werewolf over the internet, although it did make it much easier to confirm what i already knew and gave me confidence in what i was, and i cant wait to go to a howl! big_smilebig_smile

Anyone who asks his is likely misunderstanding what therianthropy is in the first place.  If you are asking this question, you need to go back and find out what it actually is.  This especially applies when you excitedly use the term "OMG!" in response to what you think is evidence of being one.

Hanwolf wrote:

Same with the last question.  If you ask this, you have no idea what Therianthropy is.  See above.

I agree with WolfVanZ.

Don't agree with him.  You have no basis to judge his knowledge on, and even if you did, other people's opinions are stupid compared to your own.

Third, if you read a medical book, it's very easy to convince yourself that you have one or more of the diseases described there - whether you have them or not.

If you're a Werewolf, fine - if not, there's no real reason to want to be one. It's not a particularly glamorous, exciting, or special life (no more than anyone else, anyway).

That point is rather true. When back in high school...studying Psychology, one module was about Autism...after reading some 'symptoms' of ASD, I looked at some and thought "That could be me...maybe I'm Autistic?" but I know I'm not. Its a bad example, but it shows how as WVZ said, it's easy to convince yourself of having something when you don't.

When you said "It's not a particularly glamorous, exciting or special life" is it bad the idea of 'America's Next Top Model: Werewolf Edition' came into my head? A weird image indeed!

Re: Am I a Werewolf/Therian?

SherlawkDragon,

First, I said OMG because I'm not the person to right out "oh my god", and I wasn't sure what the correct starter of the sentence should be.

Second, I asked if girls could be werewolves in general not about Therianthrophy, I already knew that anyone could bbe a Therian. I was saying on the basis of all stories and lore... there are never any girl werewolves!

Yes, one very famous story by Clemence Housman had a female werewolf as the antagonist.

Re: Am I a Werewolf/Therian?

I think im going to have to go against what i seem to find as popular belief on here and say that animal behaviors is indeed a trait of therians, though as i said not a "defining" trait, in certain ways. By this i mean your senses, thoughts, feeling as unconcious behaviors, such as growling and howling. It seems to be disputed but i think that it is more of a trait than any physical similarities, such as body hair and sharp teeth, or the notion that you turn into a beast at night and kill your neighbors bunny or some crock. I wont try to group the running around on all fours chasing people around bit in this, as i dont personally have that...issue, but there you go. Thoughts?

((found a pretty good source of therian literature, essays and whatnot, on http://werelibrary.org/))

But to WVZ i say that just because someone asks another person if they are a therian doesnt immediately make them any less of a therian. Just confused.

Re: Am I a Werewolf/Therian?

Newtonianally? Your word confoodle mah brainz!

lol

I'm not sure if I'd say you were a werewolf either hanwolf. The things you have tended to mention are the stereotypical werewolf ideas. For example when you asked previously:

Hanwolf wrote:

Hey guys? What happens if your a werewolf, and your friend who is also a werewolf bites you? What will happen then?

Biting as you've mentioned it here, has nothing to do with 'being a werewolf' as far as Therianthropy is concerned (well...much to do with it anyway)

Although, it does depend on entirely what kind of 'werewolf' you mean. In terms of being a Therian, I'd say no, you aren't. That's just what I'd say however.
I personally do not believe that the werewolves that we see in the cheesy horror movies exist. So if you're asking if you were a wereolf in that respect, I'd say no to that as well.

The above are just my personal opinions, so don't take them as final. I o recommend taking a look at the 'Therianthropy FAQ' stickied up in this forum to give yourself a better idea on things. I find it a very useful read, even now, as it is very straightforward and easy to understand.

Hope that makes some sense.

Re: Am I a Werewolf/Therian?

Shadowfox, I don't think asking if your a Therian makes you less of a Therian,  but if you're a Therian and you have to ask, you really need to consider the possibility that you want to be one much more than you are one. Mind you, that's only the opinion of a 55 year old Werewolf that hosts Howls and has been around a lot of Werepeople for the last 10 years of his life.

Well i guess all i can say to that is everyone is different and experiences things and thinks in different ways. Remember what assuming does....

Re: Am I a Werewolf/Therian?

I remember Tony Randal using the "assume" cliche in a courtroom in an episode of the odd couple. It was funny - that's all it was. You have to make assumptions, otherwise you become trapped in infinite regresses.

Remember that assumption plus observation is the basis of inductive logic and without inductive logic there is absolutely no way to assess the truth value of deductive logic.

Therianthropy isn't an experience; it's a state of being. Therians experience things the way Therians experience things but it's not the way they experience things that make them Therians, it's the fact that they're Therians that cause them to experience things as Therians. Therianthropy may be a physical state or a spiritual state or both, but it most certainly is not a psychological, imaginary, or dramatic state.

Re: Am I a Werewolf/Therian?

Thats not what i meant but its okay, i give up. Im too tired at the moment to explain.

But boredom gives me reason to...

I wasnt implying that being therian was a state of mind, i was referring to the state of mind of someone who feels the desire to ask others for guidence. Its a confusing thing to think youre a therian when you have no previous exposure to the idea. To find others like you is what this site is for and to condemn them for asking about the condition is ignorant. And i cant even begin to say why that "Therianthropy isn't an experience" bit is pointless to argue over with a theological debate on a misinturpretation of what i meant in the first place.
