Re: Bubba The Redneck Werewolf Comic: Honorary Forum

Fuzzball said awhile ago that Bubba is more hairy than scary. I have to disagree. Very early on Bubba was unable to control the lupine characteristics of his transformation and he killed; yes and even ate, humans. Over time Bubba's human side took more control and he evolved into the fun n fuzzy Bubba we and Bobbie-Jo love. This does not say that under severe duress, or when he feels his friends or loved ones are in peril, that he can lose that control or voluntarily give himself over to the wolf inside. Look at his battle with the white werewolf in the last book. Savage! If this was a human and not a werewolf would he have been less savage? Maybe. We identify with Bubba because he is , at his core, just like us. Only he can let the beast out once in awhile, while the rest of us usually have to harbor the beast within.

Re: Bubba The Redneck Werewolf Comic: Honorary Forum

I agree, everyone/everything has a dark side to them a yin and a yang-thus goes the design of the natural world and all of it's inhabitants.
I definitely think that the BUBBSTER would tear into someone who threatened his loved ones and Mitch will be the first to tell you that Bubba's origins were quite dark in it's content but after a while he wanted to take the werewolf concept into a different area and in turn concentrate on the more human aspects of his nature while occasionally re-visiting the primal roots of the savage beast that is buried within all of us.

Fuzzball,  Go to scaretactixgraphix.com and order Bubba: Rumble in Romania. That's the latest issue. And there might even be another inbetween about Alien Abductions. Can another fan or artist help me out here?

Re: Bubba The Redneck Werewolf Comic: Honorary Forum

Hi y’all...Back from Texas and just in time to add a bit to the brilliant insights I've seen posted here. Okay, the original Bubba from "Bound in Darkness" (A series of horror shorts I did for CFD comics back in the mid 90's)
originally had our favorite country lupine ravaging the countryside and killing at will. But I had him killing those who tormented him when he was human in form. The deal is this...His point of frustration was the core of his killing. Powerless and now empowered to "even his score" he did just that.  Just like any person or even most animals...if you beat them enough and you hurt their sense of self worth...sometimes they decide to act upon these things.  Look at beaten dogs or the guy who in the old days of comics (the Charles Atlas ads) had sand kicked in his face and his girl stolen...so he got a hold of a body building course and became "king of the Beach" after he smacked around the bully who had inspired it all.

So, in life and fiction...Our heroes or antagonists either learn to accept their faults and either understand that violence is not an answer OR work to enlighten and go past that...think like Magneto in the first X-men movie when after his family is killed in the Holocaust he decides that ALL normals are evil and he and his kind should rule. But the Normals that killed his family were exceptions to the rule of all humans. But...Are they REALLY any better or worse? They were mindless drones who were worshipping a madman and ina time of economic ruin that had them desperate and crazed.  So, you decide to throw in or revolt against this. It's up to you! The answer is within us all. We can do great good or do great evil. I know I’ve said that before, but it's the truth.

As for Bubba, he's the best of them all in this current incarnation. He's strong and truthful to what he believes, but if you piss him off and you do what HE fells is injustice in the way that he understands it, he'll knock yer butt to the moon. So, here's something to dwell upon my dear lycans...What is it that makes good and evil in us all? Is it the way we're raised? is it how we perceive things? Or is instinctual?

Please discuss! I have an old friend who is a criminal psychologist and she thinks Bubba is just making up for the years he was a loser and now has a "savoir" complex, like most superheroes. I countered with this..."He's just making the best of what he is and just taking things as they come with no forethought except to react to whatever situation he's in with the intelligence and morals he has. In other words...he's just all of us.... If we can help, we help. If we're hurt, we hurt. And if a bunch of happy face Nazis and aliens mess with our lives...We bust them up cause...well, who wants happy face nazis and aliens up to weird purpose messing with us?

SEE? Extraordinary circumstances require extraordinary methods. And if you happen to be a redneck werewolf...well, I'd say you were the right being for the job. By the way...My psych friend now thinks that no matter why Bubba does what he does...he's still pretty cool and loves the fact that he really is in control of who he is and does what he does because he is truly master of his destiny.

And as far as Aliens returning...Hang on for the next issue coming soon...you'll see...

"Savoir" Mitch....what ,is Bubba part French or something? wink

Hey Fuzzy, just like Ble Eyes and LeLoup mentioned there are two more recent issues of "BUBBA" available; "BUBBA's Super Sci-Fi special #1 which features the story "The X-Philes"(my first total published writing and drawing gig) and the aforementioned "Rumble in Romania" which was the most recent adventure.
"Rumble" is still available for ordering on the Scare Tactix website ,as for "BUBBA vs The X-Philes" you may have to resort to ordering it on ebay-just type in bubba redneck werewolf and some of his hard to find back issues will pop up it may cost you some extra bucks though cause unlike "Batman" the "Bubbster" is a little harder to find due to a limited print run.
As mentioned before BUBBA's new adventure will be coming out by next Spring if not sooner with words by Mitch and pictures by yours truly and only available through Scare Tactix Graphix.
-till next time Moon worshippers...peace out! cool

I was a whopping 2 years old during the "summer of love"(1967) a little too young to care so I guess that makes me a "neo-hippie"(1970's).

So I'm 7 months younger than you, SWAMP THING. I may not remember much of the hippie movement but I liked The Beatles' music.
