You got it, Midnight. Indeed, 1701 is the Enterprise's number and I heard that in-joke in Heroes too.

I remember as a kid being fascinated with the ship. It had no wings or fins and just was startling for me as a kid to really understand that space wasa vaccuum and you didn't need those things.  It is amazing how pop culture educates in ways you never expect. Cool.

I remember seeing a show on how Star Trek influenced modern technology.  Like cell phones and stuff.

Re: Bubba The Redneck Werewolf Comic: Honorary Forum

Actually some one did for awhile. It was limited release from Whiz-Bang toys. It didn't work out as too many people had to try and take their shoe off and answer while driving, holding a double cheeseburger, put on their make-up, adjust the radar detector, slow down and stare at an accident in the opposite lane  and read the newspaper during rush hour. I mean try to answer a phone call in the middle of all that? That shoe phone is way to distracting. LOL!   As for the other...the inventor of the Cel phone was interviewed on a show called Star Trek tech and said that he based it on the communicators...so there ya go.

Or just the creepy guy that lives in their mom's basement and blogs about inconsistencies in sci-fi and fantasy shows and has never had a date before in their life.  Not that that was me or anything.  O_O  lol

Re: Bubba The Redneck Werewolf Comic: Honorary Forum

It's true. I laugh at myself laughing at Swamp Thing laughing at  the schedule i give him whenever we do a Bubba comic. It's always funny till someone gets hurt...but then it's our publisher who does and we laugh at him cause he's laughing the time i  tell him it will take for us to get the book done. Have to go...my sides ache from all this hilarity. LOL!

Hey, not everyone can draw out a book in a week...and you should watch that laughing habit of yours, it tends to get you in "deep water", remember that prank you did on General Sherman in Atlanta during the Civil War?

OH YEAH?
Well at least I didn't set fire to Rome while I was a teenager then tried to blame it on Emperor Nero-that poor sick bastard never recovered from that one let alone the thousands of forcefully loyal Roman subjects who either perished or were homeless because of your little bout of "teenage boredom". sad
