All Hallows Eve

When darkness falls
The moon rises dark and pale
And I am waiting

I pick up a scent
There is a chill in the air
Undead walk tonight

We are the wolf guard
Thirteen soldiers of the moon
We safeguard our land

This is the grand night
When twain meet and gates open
It is the Samhein

Tonight we must serve
Guardians to humankind
As heroes for once

Blood-suckers fiends hunt
Taking the young and helpless
Leaving them dry husks

A small boy is tired
He falls behind the small group
They move for the kill

A shadow spooks him
He whirls to see the figure
Tall and vampiric

He turns back to run
The creature is there somehow
No chance of escape

He snatches the child
Pulls him off the cold sidewalk
Bares his glistening fangs

As he lifts the youth
I leap up off the rooftop
A bolt from above

The child's collars rips
He leans and opens his mouth
I was almost late

My fist meets his face
His bones buckle under the blow
He drops like a rock

The child screams and runs
I turn to face my arch foe
As he turns he stands

I shatter his jaw
My fist acts as a steel rod
He drops like a stone

I draw my two blades
Golden and Obsidian
Draw blood on his chest

I raise my dual swords
And whisper to him this phrase
"Back to the shadows!"

Light pours into him
My swords channel my soul's fire
And send out pure light

Screaming and burning
I send him into the next world
Back into the pit

I turn to the child
Frozen by the spectacle
I become human

He runs up to me
I touch his forehead and say
"Forget this dark night"

His eyes flutter shut
Then open with confusion
His friends call to him

He runs back to them
Tells them that he saw a dog
I smile and chuckle

I move off again
I sigh and sniff the night air
A long night ahead
