Yeah, whatever happened to Mitch and Shawn? Not that they were really any fun or talented or really nice to old ladies. Well, except for the ones they were stealing their social security checks from and...OH...Hi Ya'll! Whoops wrong forum. I thought this was the con artists' home page. Dang!
Well, it's been a bit of time since the last post, but there's a lot been happening...So, kick back, open a six pack and listen up!
First of all, I'll be in Philly, so Hal ...see ya soon! This summer is gonna be a busy one, so Philly might be the only place I'll be at, so stop by and pick up some of the new bubba posters I'll have for ya'll till the comic is ready. Oh, the comic...right...Well after having a long brainstorming session with Shawn. (That means three bottles of Tequila instead of the customary two) We have the new issue of Bubba plotted and ready for the drawing board! We have been in negotiations with an old fan of mine, which contacted me and ran me up and down the ragged road about more Bubba books. He invoked the name of a person dear to me, who has passed on and then showed me a final E-mail from this gone but never forgotten wonderful person who touched my life and simply.... I’ll be haunted to the end of my days if I don't put out a new Bubba every few months. Now this sounds easy, but when ya got as much on my plate as I've had, it wasn't possible. Plus, Shawn has been working on two other books and is now working on two more! I'll let him tell ya about those when he posts soon.
Well, this all brings me to the new Bubba book and it's gonna be a howl! We've had to trim the book to 24 pages, but you'll still have a great full length story to enjoy and of course Shawn’s killer art. Color, pencils and all will be done by Mr. Surface, who by the way is Diamond Previews "star of the month" this month, so get a previews or go on-line to the diamond site and click on gallery to see the whole deal.
The best thing about the new and snappier Bubba book will be that he will reflect more of what we're putting into the film version. It was felt that if we do a new book, then we have to get everyone ready for the Bubba that will be shown to an audience that may have not been part of the comic buying public. after discussing it with some of the production folks during a phone confab today, they agreed and so we will also have a guest artist, who is working on the film, helping us get the look just right. This artist is a well-known fella who not only drew for DC and Marvel, but also helped create a few new characters for them as well. Seeing as he and Shawn will be creating the look and storyboards for the film, we thought this would be a good way to get everyone used to working together before we enter the pre-production phase. Which by the way is going to happen soon due to our nailing down a good distribution company who is interested in getting our film out to the theatres.
So, all this is going on at the same time and it's been keeping me pretty busy. I'm also in the process of "pitching" a sit-com that another buddy of mine. This guy has taught lots of folks in Hollywood their stuff and one of his pupils has become a major player at a well known network that is looking for new stuff, with an old school edge like "Barney Miller" and "Cheers" had. WE threw them the basic concept and now we're sending in our first episodes. So, I'll let ya know if we make the cut. Let's just say, we're bringing back the Comedy with a 'social conscience'.
And I've also been teaching and developing a course for the college crowd that will teach folks how to get creative ideas out of their heads and on paper and then eventually to film, graphic novels or TV. I'm proud to say that the "beta test" of this course over the last year at a couple of colleges has produced a few people who are now being produced and published on the large scale. Yep, proof that if ya get folks the right info, they can get the dream on...If they're serious and not just playing around. This stuff is a job ladies and gents, so like any job, ya gotta work! And if ya take my course, ya gotta put up with me pacing back and forth doing bad stand-up for two hours a day! I just hope the 'young adult' version I'm testing this summer doesn't get me busted for "child abuse" LOL! Oh well, if nothing else I'll be able to show Three Stooges,Marx Brother and Charlie Chaplin films to a generation who needs to see them as part of the course!
See? Ya'll don't hear diddley outta me for a while and so you have to endure these mile long posts. So ,in the future, and now that Con season is here, I'll be keeping in closer contact, but as for shows, I'll be jumping around this year and I'll be making it at the last minute (if at all) for most. Now ya'll get down to Tampa this weekend to see Cadre and crew at the Tampa comic con! One thing about Cadre...He isa true believer in the power of positive comic thinking! That means keep the flame going and don't quit! And always, keep those original ideas flowing like Redstreak and the rest. Cadre…E-mail me some time will ya? Sheesh!!
One last thing... fuzzball...Let us know when ya can get back on-line. And if ya ever find out who hacked you...I gotta 300 hunnert pound pissed off werewolf that would love to play "catch and no release" with the jerks who sent you outta cyberspace. The rest of ya'll...Well you got the dang E-mail address...So write or post here at the good ol cafe'! thanks Busboy and ya never know, I just might make it to Chicago this year if all gets squared up by show time!
Peace till ya get pissed!
Bubba and the guy who types for him

and there's been contact made with the mysterious "Disappearing Mitch"... a rare breed of animal which hides within mounds of papers and broken pencils... tending to come out for a while to congregate with lycanthropic gatherings and fans alike... then back into recluse pondering it's next move... we await the next appearance.

Oh, Cadre!

Spoke and seen "the Mitch" this weekend... all is well and proceeding as foretold... albeit in a different direction... but well from what I'm told.
He'll be letting ya'll in on the news I'm sure... but fans should be pleased I think.
