Re: I really haven't posted in a long time, have I?

Aww, that kinda sucks.  It "may be the wrong place to go anyway"?  Hmmm. neutral

Yeah...I've only done it a few times, and when no one's looking. lol I don't know why it's easier...it just simply is! tongue

Re: I really haven't posted in a long time, have I?

Yeah... apparently going to the Moon and going to Mars are the "wrong" places to go... tongue

Hahahahahahahahahahaha, I've reverted almost exclusively to going up the stairs using that method. tongue

Re: I really haven't posted in a long time, have I?

Well based on physics you have a different center of gravity and your muscles don't have to strain to hold yourself upright as you defy the force of gravity by stepping up. tongue  I do know that when I go up steep hills in a hike I usually go down on all fours. tongue

Re: I really haven't posted in a long time, have I?

Where are the "right" places then?

I've totally gone up stairs on all fours. We'd be at a hotel (my family and I) and we'd go up the stairs and I'd just suddenly kinda lope up like that. The only time my mom said anything was when I was younger and did it really fast and noisily ("You sound like a herd of elephants! People are trying to sleep!")

Well, now we know why. wink So ha, to those that think it's weird to go up & down stairs on all fours - physics says it's easier on us! lol

Re: I really haven't posted in a long time, have I?

And there in lies the question. wink

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha, I love it! Besides the fact that it just feels more "natural", it's actually quite a bit easier and faster.

Re: I really haven't posted in a long time, have I?

Well from my experience on hikes I quite agree it is faster, easier, and more natural. I'll have to try it on the next set of stairs I find. wink

Re: I really haven't posted in a long time, have I?

As I will have to try it on the next hike I engage in. wink Though...this is Florida, so I won't be going up and down any hills.

Huh. hmm
Maybe I'll quickly take a trip to like...the rockies or something. tongue

Yes, I did indeed say hills.
But he's right.  We have beautiful mountains here, but they're so incredibly beautiful that your eyes can't take them in, so they appear invisible in the sight of mere humans. big_smile

Re: I really haven't posted in a long time, have I?

Nah, it has to be at least 6,000 feet for it to be a mountain and event then that could be called a large hill. tongue A real mountain is 10,000 feet or more. tongue

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! So you say, so you say. tongue

Here in Florida, a "mountain" is anything over 300 feet. tongue

Some examples I can think of are Mt. Trashmore near Miami and Sugarloaf Mountain. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugarloaf_Mountain_(Florida)

w00t! By Vin's definition my mountains here are real mountains! Yay! big_smile I'm actually kind of surprised because I didn't realize they were over 12, 000 feet <_< I thought they'd be smaller than that....
