@Vin: YES! "Evil Dead" - just awesome! Despite the horrible effects, the first one is actually kinda creepy - personally, I think the horrible effects adds to the weird, surreal atmosphere that part one had, so that's not a bad thing!
I love the first "Halloween"!
And "Halloween H2O" as well (which I call "Halloween: Water"
), and of course I love the original "Fog". The remake...is...godawful, though. If you haven't seen the remake of "The Fog", you will HATE it - DO NOT WATCH IT!!!!
Oh, do you like John Carpenter's "The Thing", Vin?
White: They remind me of Nirvana, only it's a little heavier.
Are they from the whole 90's grunge scene?
I think I'll take a listen to the song "Shine" in a minute btw since I looked them up after that song finished.
And well...to both of you...I thought of another song I wanted to show you guys! Behold, the wonderful music of Jawbreaker! They currently hold position #2 on my Last.fm page, because I can't stop listening to them!

I quite agree the effects added to the twisted nature of the film. I will still get chills from that one from time to time. I think it was the only one of the tree that actually freaked me out. I have not seen the remake, but I have heard as you said that it is terrible and it is definitely not on my list to view. As for "The Thing" if it is the one with the shapeshifter in the arctic. Oh Yes I've seen it!!! I love how the film ended on the note of "Is it really dead?" I think the scene with the German Shepard was the saddest and most terrifying piece of film I have ever seen, especially at the age I viewed it.
As for the song, not bad.

Hahahahaha, well there are only about 4 songs of theirs that I know, but I describe them as a combination of a little Nirvana (minus all the weird and sometimes disturbing lyrics) and Lynard Skynard. Another song of theirs that's really good is "Heavy" and of course "Shine", but you already found that one.
*watches music video*

@Vinster: That scene was HORRIBLE! Not because it was a badly done scene, but because I could barely watch it. Every time an animal dies in a movie, I can't stand to watch it. I mean, if a person dies, I find that I really don't care unless it was a really cool character but anytime an animal is harmed in a horror flick it...it...disturbs me.
Same thing with children. *shudders*
But yeah, "The Thing" is one of the greatest flicks EVER!
As for "Evil Dead"...yeah, the first one was genuinely creepy (especially when that girl gets possessed and starts singing "Weee're gonna geeeettt you", oh and that um...scene with the trees...ew!!
) and the other two were (intentionally!) hilarious.
And I haven't seen Sam Raimi's "Drag Me to Hell" yet, but I'd like to!
I just can't believe he also made...
Spiderman?
haha
@whitester: Nirvana & Lynyrd Skynyrd, eh?
Hmm.
Is there a southern vibe to their other songs, then?
By the way, I listened to Shine and thought it was pretty good!

Hahahahahahahahaha, well they're a southern band, so there's a little bit of it in there (but not too strong where it gets overpowering or anything).
How about Lenny Kravitz? Do you know of him?
Offline
Of course I do, White!
Then again, my dad listened to him all the time - this might be why! I have a greatest hits comp of him, but that's it, I'm afraid.
I like his cover of "American Woman".
Oh, and "Mr. Cab Driver" is great too!

I know, I absolutely hate when animals or children are in horror movies as you always know their going to be killed and it is disturbing to me. I completely agree about the creepiness of the girl singing in "Evil Dead" Here is a music video made by the group "Lordi" I bet you can guess what film they are referencing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkw4jhDE1eQ
"Drag Me To Hell" was such an odd film, however I quite enjoyed it and the cheesy effects of the film.
I was absolutely shocked that he did Spiderman. That completely surprised me.
Offline
Hahahahahahaha, that is interesting that your dad listened to him! Hahahahaha, a lot of his songs came out when I was in elementary school.
Offline
Vindicator, I definitely know what's being referenced.
btw, that song's pretty good.
CS, did you like any of the other songs posted?
White, yep, that's how I first heard 'em. My dad.
ALSO!
Because I haven't posted an epic song in a while, here's one right nooowww!!!!

Hahahahahahahahaha, what did you think of their costumes?
Offline
cs, ah I seeee. What kinda music do ya enjoy then? What would you consider your style?
Vinster they were...interesting!
kinda Gwar-esque.
They're like Norwegian Gwar!
Offline
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, that they are. In fact that is the garb they wear for all their concerts and everything. Very intense!
Offline
@Vinster: I kinda wanna see 'em live, just so I can go up to 'em and touch their costumes!
@CS: So you like happy music then?
And no...no, that doesn't make sense.
At all. Why do you listen to your music if you find it annoying? haha
Offline
Hahahahahahaha, no that doesn't CS.
Was it you or Vin that posted Nightwish before Totali???
Offline
White: um...if you're talking about a long while ago (like over the summer, for instance) then I think it was me! Though Vin had been listening to "The Last of the Wilds" for quite some time before then, so it could have been him as well. Basically...I dunno!
CS: Ah, I see. I generally listen to music that I can feel a connection with as well - in fact, my favorite bands are the ones that I connect with so well it gives me chills. This, for example.
I can't understand the language that's being sung, but the music moves something within me so deeply that it actually gives me quite a rush. They're one of my favorite groups.
And then, this song nearly brought me to tears (as silly as that may sound!
) because of the raw emotion and passion behind it - they're also another favorite of mine! And I don't think your music is "bad" at all,
. It's not stuff I'd listen to but it certainly ain't bad - there's a lot worse out there!

Last of the Wilds is fantastic!!!
I know have that whole Album.

YES!! It's Nightwish's best instrumental, it has a great folky feel to it!
That entire album, "Dark Passion Play", is very good.
Though fans of their previous singer sometimes disagree...rather vehemently. Personally, I like Anette. Tarja has more of a range, but Anette's got a pleasant voice.
However, the vocals aren't the reason I listen to Nightwish - with them, it's the epic music in the background!

I love having it for Epic background music! I always listen to them when I'm writing huge action pieces for my book. That is interesting that there is such an upset over a singer. I do like the one in this album, it reminds me some of Within Temptation.

@CS: I'm glad you like The Gaslight Anthem! They're one of the best bands ever, in my humble opinion!
You should get their albums "The 59 Sound" and "Sink or Swim"...specifically "The 59 Sound".
Ah - so you like songs that you can specifically relate to? Ones that you listen to and go "Yes! That's me!"? I see!
There is one particular band I listen to that I can relate to nearly 100% as far as their lyrics are concerend, but I dunno if I'll post a link since there is absolutely no singing and it's just screaming and shouting.
However, I do enjoy a band that I can relate to, and that's why I generally go for bands like Jawbreaker & The Gaslight Anthem, I can easily relate to the way the lead singers feel about certain things they express in their lyrics. Also, the fact that I love the way the music sounds definitely helps!
@Vindicator: Yeah...it's a great album! I've fallen asleep to it before, it induces dreams of epic proportions - I'm not even joking!
Same thing when I fall asleep to the "Once" album (also by Nightwish) - I fell asleep to that one once (hahaha, and it's called "Once"...
) and dreamt Tarja was a white witch akin to the one in "The Wizard of Oz" and that I was learning magic at a castle that she apparently lived in.
Oh, and Gandalf was there, too. Er...anyway, yeah, some Tarja fans really don't care for Anette and are extremely vocal about it and will say horrible things about the poor woman.
I like Tarja, but some of her hardcore fans...
Scary.

Hahahahaha, reading that post was random!
All I can say is the BNL have a very nice bass player. And he likes trains... which is a plus in my book.
Offline
@White: You like trains, I'm gonna guess?
My mom has a friend who is absolutely obsessed with them!
Like...he's truly obsessed. He knows a hell of a lot about 'em, he collects train stuff, he's totally into trains. Sorry, I just all of a sudden thought o' him - hahahaha!
@CS: I know someone who's music taste is completely and totally random, they listen to several different genres that sound nothing alike! I describe this person's taste as "schizophrenic"!
Offline
Oh jeez, I hope not!!!!!!!!!!!
Hahahahahahahaha, I can send you a picture on facebook from us eating dinner on the train together.
He has a really nice little kid too.
Random music is good! For me, Switchfoot is by and far my favorite... I love ALL their music, but that said, they're not all I listen to at all! I listen to just about everything! I don't have any particular favorite genre, I just have favorite songs. There is classic rock, rock, hard rock, punk rock, goth, pop, etc, etc songs that I like but I certainly don't like all of them! Oldies music is more or less the only genre that I really like just about it all. Rap is the only genre that I hate just about it all.
Country isn't a favorite either, but there are some songs that I like.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, I always have such interesting dreams when I listen to things like the Doctor Who Soundtrack. I actually was listening to it last night, and had a very odd dream of Dalek's killing the planets population of Wolves, as the Doctor turned out to work for the WWF.

Hahahahahahahaha, really? What's the WWF?
